Baylor's Pierre Jackson has been selected as the StatSheet Big 12 Player of the Week for the week ending December 31st. Baylor's Isaiah Austin has won StatSheet's Big 12 Freshman of the Week. And last but not least, Kansas's Naadir Tharpe is StatSheet's Big 12 6th Man of the Week.
Jackson was the best in the Big 12 in scoring (26.0 pts per game). He also registered respectable numbers with 2 rebounds per game, 50% shooting, and 6 assists per game. The Baylor senior played well for the Bears in a loss to Gonzaga.
This is the first StatSheet Big 12 Player of the Week honor for Pierre Jackson. The runner-up this week is junior Cory Jefferson from Baylor. Honorable mention goes to Texas sophomore Sheldon McClellan. Romero Osby finished ninth and was the highest ranking player from Oklahoma.
StatSheet Big 12 Freshman of the Week: Baylor's Isaiah Austin
Isaiah Austin played 30 minutes starting the only game for Baylor. In the loss to Gonzaga, Austin tallied 20 points and 8 rebounds.
This is the first StatSheet Big 12 Freshman of the Week award for Isaiah Austin. The runner-up is Javan Felix from Texas. Perry Ellis from Kansas receives honorable mention. Buddy Hield was the highest ranking freshman from Oklahoma and finished 5th.
StatSheet Big 12 6th Man of the Week: Kansas's Naadir Tharpe
Sophomore Naadir Tharpe, a 5-11 reserve guard, saw 20 minutes of action during a single game for the Jayhawks. In a lopsided 89-57 win over American University, Tharpe put up 9 points and 12 assists.
This is the first time this season that Naadir Tharpe has won the StatSheet Big 12 6th Man of the Week. Gary Browne, a sophomore guard from West Virginia, is runner up. Jaye Crockett, a junior forward from Texas Tech, earns honorable mention. The highest ranking 6th man from Oklahoma was Cameron Clark who finished 4th. Oklahoma has yet to win the StatSheet Big 12 Player of the Week award this season.
